The FGE is searching for interns to assist with our organization’s educational outreach programs and advocacy efforts. Interns will be principally tasked with expanding our professional network and maintaining the foundation’s online presence. We invite students with a keen interest in genocide education and human rights to apply for this internship. As interns, you will gain valuable hands-on experience in the non-profit sector within a rapidly growing organization
Please note this is a non-remunerated position
What we do:
-The FGE is a non-profit organization whose mission is to ensure that genocide is taught in all high schools across Canada and the US
-We accomplish this goal in two ways: 1) by working with governments to create a universal guide on teaching genocide that will be used in all high schools as part of the curriculum in history and language courses, and 2) by creating unique interactive presentations for schools by descendants of genocide survivors based on their parents’ or grandparents’ video testimonials.
-The guide on genocide is being launched in Quebec in 2021, and we aim to have this guide used in the rest of Canada within the next two years and make our entry in the US.
-The FGE also promotes the use of the guide on genocide through extensive public relations tools, such as videos, PR media awareness campaigns, and social media campaigns
-Our foundation raises funds needed for these endeavours
Responsibilities for interns:
-Establishing contacts with other provincial governments in the rest of Canada
-Networking with community and educational organizations to expand our outreach
-Conducting research into past and present genocides for various projects
-Applying for private foundation and government grants
-Expanding our social media network (Twitter, FB, Instagram)
-Updating our new website with the latest news about the foundation and its activities
